As the owner of Rob Clark Studios I derive great pleasure in designing and building furniture to the highest of aesthetic and craft standards. Every step in the design and build process is given the time required for perfect execution. I can do no less because this level of work is a personal standard that is a part of my very makeup.
Simplicity of style is one of my primary guidelines, though I enjoy finding ways to accent pieces with smaller bits of detail, not enough to overwhelm but rather to bring a little extra spice to things. Because of my love for simplicity my work follows patterns seen in Early American Furniture, Danish Modern, and the Arts & Crafts movement in general.
As you will notice while perusing the site I offer both custom commissioned pieces in which maker and client work together at each step of the design and build process, as well as repeat builds of pieces I have already designed as a part of my production piece repertoire.
In producing pieces I utilize both machine and hand tool processess, the machines for the heavy work and the hand tools for the fine tuning, providing surfaces which simply cannot be attained in any other way.
Spin-Werks, my line of small wooden spinning tops, provides time for more relaxed "play" at the lathe between furniture jobs, uses up wood left over from furniture projects, and provides a steady base income for the shop.
"Rob was a pleasure to work with, a true professional. Whenever he would have an idea he would pass it my way to see if I wanted to add the details to the sconces and each time I did. They turned out beautiful!" Wall Sconces for Susie Schuster--Brown Design Group
"I wish there were more superlatives I could use--Rob Clark Studios in the person of creator and artisan Rob created a family heirloom that my children's children will someday enjoy. A wonderful experience all round." English Windsor Chair for Janet--Marin County Client
Working with Rob was a pleasure -- he's a gentleman and worked diligently to arrive at the best structural solution for a difficult design I originally presented to him. His high work ethic is apparent, and he's very concerned with the quality of his work. I thoroughly recommend Rob for his professionalism and workmanship.
